An Urban Search and Rescue Coordination Course (UC Course) was held 27-3rd March in France, hosted by the Sécurité Civile at Valabre. The course - in a Training of Trainer format - brought USAR Team Leaders from INSARAG Classified teams together to learn and discuss best practices in the field of USAR coordination.
Since the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 57/150 of 2002, on “Strengthening the Effectiveness and Coordination of International Urban Search and Rescue Assistance”, the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group has certified over 45 International Search and Rescue teams and continuously develop its preparedness and response standards to maximise the teams effectiveness and the number of lives saved. This course aimed at ensuring the latest development in the field of USAR coordination are shared at a global level and standards disseminated as national level. Footage of the course are available here:
The same course will be rolled-out in different regions, please consult the Virtual OSOCC for more dates.
