On behalf of the Government of Malaysia and the National Disaster Management Authority, the INSARAG Secretariat is pleased to invite your institution to participate in the INSARAG Asia – Pacific Regional Earthquake Response Exercise (ERE) 2017 and your INSARAG A-P focal points to the Asia Pacific Regional Meeting 2017. These consecutive events will be held in Putrajaya, Malaysia, from 11 to 13 September (Regional ERE) and from 14 to 15 September (A-P Regional Meeting) respectively.

As part of the disaster response preparedness activities of INSARAG, the EREs are conducted primarily as a means to increase awareness of INSARAG disaster response methodologies amongst national and local authorities in the host country, as endorsed by the INSARAG Steering Group. It is further recommended that such regional exercises incorporate the management components of international organisations to ensure an integrated and coordinated response in support of host country actors. The primary participants in these ERE are USAR skeleton Teams and EMTs. You will find attached the provisional agenda of the exercise.

With regards to the Regional Meetings, these are a gathering of international USAR policy makers, team leaders, and governmental representatives, among others to exchange information about technical and political USAR issues in the INSARAG context. The participants will discuss best practices and possible improvements in areas of interest. The primary participants in these meetings are expected to be the INSARAG Focal points and Heads of Departments in National Governments who are responsible for disaster management. You will find attached the provisional agenda of the Regional Meeting.

Registration is required in the Virtual OSOCC using this direct registration link: https://vosocc.unocha.org/VOLogin.aspx?suk=tp_4367_wid_0_tid_2_b2niwife2p.
