A USAR Coordination Training of Trainers course was successfully held from 19 to 23 September in Selfoss, Iceland, with 24 participants from 14 countries. The course was hosted by the Icelandic Association of Search and Rescue (ICE-SAR) and the government of Iceland through the MFA. The course management was headed by the chair of the TWG and the Course Coordinator from ICE-SAR, which included members from the TWG and the IMWG, INSARAG Secretariat, and experienced international USAR trainers. The participants got to practice teaching UC methodology in classroom settings and through two simulation exercises. The training was based on the recently updated UC handbook, endorsed by the ISG in 2022. The course also provided an opportunity for participants and course management to share ideas and provide input to the development of the TWG UC training package.
