On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the INSARAG Secretariat is pleased to invite your organisation to participate in the INSARAG Africa-Europe-Middle East (AEME) Regional Earthquake Response Exercise (ERE) 2018. The exercise will be held in Yerevan, the Republic of Armenia from 5 to 7 December 2018.

As part of the disaster response preparedness activities of INSARAG, the EREs are conducted primarily as a means to increase awareness and practice INSARAG disaster response methodologies amongst national and local authorities in the host country, and international responders as endorsed by the INSARAG Guidelines. It is further recommended that such multi-stakeholder exercises incorporate the management components of international organisations to ensure an integrated and coordinated response in support of host country actors. The international participants in this large-scale table-top simulation exercise are represented by skeletal teams of up to four (4) members (per country/team) from international Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), three (3) members of Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs). INSARAG Classified teams from the AEME are also strongly encouraged to nominate a suitable member to participate as a USAR Coordination Cell (UCC) member in the exercise.

Registration is required in the Virtual OSOCC using this link: https://vosocc.unocha.org/Reg/5615_AEME2018.html

Please note that registration does not automatically mean acceptance into the exercise. Kindly wait for the confirmation of acceptance from the organisers before arranging flight bookings.  The closing date for registration is on 1 November 2018, to facilitate host country arrangements. Participants are requested to arrive in Yerevan on 4 December 2018.

Participants registering as Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs) are kindly requested to copy the WHO EMT Secretariats at emteams@who.int.

Please find attached the administrative note, registration form and hotel forms. The provisional agenda will be shared in the coming week, and we look forward to your active participation.
