On 3 February 2016, the INSARAG Steering Group meeting was opened by Ambassador Manuel Bessler, Global Chairman of INSARAG and Mr. Rudolf Müller, Director a.i. of OCHA Geneva.  The Global Chair summarised the key achievements of INSARAG in 2015, outlined the upcoming highlights for 2016 and reflected on issues to be further discussed in the upcoming sessions. 

The meeting was attended by 156 participants from 66 Member States and Organizations (see Annex B), including Regional Chairs and Vice-Chairs, Working Group Chairs, National Focal Points and representatives from classified teams, and participants from the Humanitarian Networks and Partnership Week (HNPW). Representatives from OCHA’s Regional Offices and OCHA’s Emergency Services Branch (ESB) also attended. The meeting was facilitated by OCHA’s Field Coordination Support Section in its capacity as INSARAG Secretariat.

95 participants from 21 countries and organizations working on urban search and rescue (USAR) gathered for the annual International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) Asia-Pacific (A-P) Regional Meeting in Xi’an, China, on 25 and 26 August, 2016.

The meeting was held in Xi’an, China, hosted by China Earthquake Administration (CEA), the INSARAG A-P Regional Chair 2016, and co-organized by OCHA in its capacity as the INSARAG Secretariat that is located in the Field Coordination Support Section (FCSS) of the Emergency Services Branch (ESB) in OCHA Geneva.

The annual meeting of INSARAG Asia-Pacific Regional Group was held in Kobe, Japan on 14 September 2010 in conjunction with the first INSARAG Global Meeting. The meeting was organised by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, as well as OCHA in its capacity as the INSARAG Secretariat. The meeting was attended by 50 participants from 22 countries and 1 regional organisation.
